Come away child

1 Kings 17:2-16 (ESV)

“Come away Elijah.

The journey is too long for you.”

Rest

In rest and quietness is strength

Rest

The battle is raging

In rest there is victory

The battle is not ours

The battle belongs to God

The Lord is calling us

To come away with Him

To His sanctuary

A secret place

Where waters of  are flowing

Refreshing us

A safe place

In the cleft of the rock

Our rock

“Come away Elijah

The ravens will feed you.”

The Lord is our provider

Nothing is too difficult for Him

Rest

Trust in God

Rest is an act of worship

Come away child

By the still waters

Where  healing flows

Mending deep wounds

Giving us hope

Where  grace overflows

Come away child

Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah:  “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.  You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”

So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
