It is hard to be cool.

I am sitting in train watching youngsters going to a football match…

Trying to be cool

To be accepted

Isn’t that what we all want?

To fit in to be in a group

To be seen to be loved

To be asked how we are doing?

To be accepted

It is hard to be cool

The teenage boy asks his friends for a beer

Does he even like beer?

Or will he get sick afterwards

Oh but to fit in!

To be cool

What wouldn’t we do just to fit in?

Yet we are called to be different

It is hard to be cool

A peculiar people

A royal priesthood

In the world but not of the world

Oh for grace to walk in your ways dear Lord

The reward is eternal

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:6 (ESV)
