Psalm 39:5-6 (NIV)
You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.
“Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom;
in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth
without knowing whose it will finally be.
God
Our eternal Father
You give us life
In Your mercy
You preserve, protect and provide for us
You have numbered our days
Give us the wisdom
To understand Your heart
To give to those around us
What You have placed in our hearts and in our hands
For time is passing by and we are here for just a short while
To give to a dying world the amazing gifts that You have placed in us
Open our eyes to see what you have placed in our hands
Without holding back may we give
For as flowers we bloom and die
Your love is eternal
May men see Your works and glorify Your name
As You shape and mold us
As You polish us just like diamonds are polished
May Your glorious beauty shine in us in a dying world
May the salt preserve that which would otherwise decay
May we remember to number our days
For indeed everyone is but breath
Even those who seem secure
Selah
