John 11:49-50 (ESV)
But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.”
One man dies for all
in order for a nation not to perish
This man is both a gift and a sacrifice
A holy man
In essence this man represents the human race
An Adam or one who Paul refers to as the second Adam
One who John calls the Lamb of God and one who Abraham calls God’s provision
A man born for one purpose only
To die for a nation
Yet by dying for one nation, one people
He died for all nations
Because all suffered from the same disease
The disease of sin
One sacrifice to save souls from destruction
We must acknowledge Him, He gave His life for the salvation of all
One man the second Adam

John 12:24 (ESV)
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
John 12:27 (ESV)
“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.
