A scene from court

A scene from court (true story)

If it had not been for Jesus my king, interceding for me… My dear Lord took my case up when the accuser did what he does best, accuse.

 Christ Is Our Advocate

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; (1 John 2:1 -NASB)

I would have found guilty, because I was guilty. Guilty of covetous thoughts, of stealing, of grumbling, of jealousy… just to name a few of the charges.

I knew it and the enemy knew it too, yet Jesus still took in my case even if, as I would imagine, His desk was filled with similar cases. I am so grateful that He took on my case.

The accuser was already in court, talking to the Judge saying, “You say that You are righteous and just! You say that Your kingdom is founded on those very pillars yet look at what she has done! Death is the only fit punishment for her, Your law says death!

Then Jesus steps forward, the court is silent as the Judge’s eyes meet Jesus’ eyes, and all I see is LOVE, The language of heaven, a language that no devil can understand.

The Judge knows what is coming, His hand already reaching out for His gavel as Jesus begins to speak. His words pierce my very being!

He looks at me and says:

But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed. (
Isaiah 53:5 NASB)

… “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29 NASB)

The Judge turns to me and says, “O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”  Because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’ ”

(Micah 6:8, 1 Peter 1:16)

“The price has been paid in full! Case dismissed!”Says the Judge says in a loud voice and  bangs His gavel.

The weight falls off my shoulders; I have been forgiven and set free! All because of what Jesus did on the cross. “Thank you Jesus for all that you have done for me, You rescued me Jesus. I will live for You Jesus, yes will live for You. ” are the only words that I can say.
