Can we be friends?

I don’t want to be just Your child but Your friend as well

I want to be Your delight

To bring a smile to Your face

To know You

Friends who share secrets

Share dreams

Share the craziest ideas

Friends who sit quietly together

Who understand what is not being said

I want You to be the first one that I call when the good news come in

And the first one that I call when the bad news come in

A look between us would amount to many words

Friends…

I could use a friend, dear Lord

I would like to be friends with the sovereign and all-powerful God

Maker of heaven and earth

It has happened before that men become friends of God

So I dare ask, can we be friends dear Lord?

With God all things are possible

The way has already been paved

Through my Lord Jesus Christ .
